Portals to the World Museum-based Programme

Portals to the World is an outreach and engagement programme based in the University of Cambridge museums.  The programme consists of multi-week courses and an alumni club designed to engage with both individuals with a dementia living in the community and their care partners.

Join Us

Each museum offers its own programme using museum-based resources. Each week we enjoy a short talk by a museum staff member, followed by a hands-on experience, either handling related objects or a practical activity.

These are small group meetings with a focus on the participants’ abilities.  They are specially designed for people living with dementia at home, both an individual with a diagnosis and his or her care partner.

Following on the course, course participants are included in an alumni group.
