Still caring logo

I am looking forward to our next Still Caring lunch meeting on 12 June when we will hear from the director of our local hearing loss campaigning charity — CAMTAD.  Frances Dewhurst will join us for lunch then speak briefly to us about the current understanding of hearing loss and she has kindly agreed to take questions.  If you would like to know about CAMTAD, you can access more information on their website.

This is our fifth lunch meeting and I’ve really enjoyed meeting the carers who have joined us. It’s a lovely group and the feedback I’ve received from attendees has been really read more…

Still Caring Lunch Club – March Speaker

We kicked off the *new* Still Caring Lunch Club in February with a good group of interested carers keen to shape the Club into something worthwhile and sustainable.  Sally Kitchin and I heard about potential interests and directions the group could go and I am now arranging speakers for upcoming lunches.

One of the issues brought forth was hospital care, which runs in parallel to current improvements in Addenbrooke’s Hospital’s care of patients who have dementia or are experiencing delirium during their hospital stay.  So, I’m pleased to announce that the first speaker scheduled for the Still Caring Lunch Club is Dr. Claire Nicholl.

Dr. Nicholl is a consultant physician in the Department of Medicine for the Elderly (DME) and has been the co-lead for Addenbrooke’s dementia strategy group.  She has been instrumental in introducing a new assessment tool to identify dementia in new patients, strengthening staff training around dementia, increasing awareness throughout the hospital and improving care standards on the wards. She has kindly agreed to be interviewed by me.  I welcome advanced questions from carers who plan to attend.

If you are interested in attending this lunch, please note that bookings are essential and can be made either via the form below or by ringing 07876 350 638.  The deadline for bookings is Friday, 8 March at 5pm.

If you would like to share this opportunity with others in your community, please feel free to print off this flyer.   You can do so by double-clicking on the the green print here: Still Caring Flyer – March
